Garden supplies and garden decor
A
garden is one of those places that is simultaneously relaxing and stimulating.
The senses are bathed in luscious smells and vivid colors that attract
birds, bees and friends. A verdant garden provides a sense of calm and
harkens back to a time when our ancient lives were spent in forest and
savanna gardens. Instinct is suddenly found when immersed in plants,
whether flowers or forests. There are many ways to turn even a barren
or overgrown patch of land into a welcoming garden, with just a few
tools and a lot of patience.
Garden décor varies from region to region and house to house.
A Japanese garden is no longer only found in Japan, it stylistic features
have found their way into gardens around the world. Asian plants and
styling are used on everything from garden fountains to a garden statue
of Buddha. While certain plants are obviously better suited to certain
environments, there are plenty to choose from in every area. A variety
of plants keeps thing interesting when a garden gnome loses its appeal.
To keep that garden green a few garden tools are needed. A trowel,
spade or shovel is the most useful tool in a gardener’s arsenal,
but the garden hose comes in second place. Gloves are useful for preventing
green thumbs while flexing that green thumb and also provide a secure
grip. Larger tools such as lawnmowers, edger’s and the like can
be stored in garden sheds that can be made or purchased in any size.
Garden ponds make an excellent addition to any area, but they require
more work and garden supplies, a pond can quickly become a muddy hole
if not kept clean. Creating a natural functioning ecosystem in the pond,
with algae eating fish and underwater oxygenating plants will help keep
it clean, but regular maintenance is still needed. If children will
be playing in the area, a garden gate may be needed to keep them from
falling into the pond. A gate also discourages an unwanted animal from
entering and burying a bone under those prized peonies.
Other additions can make a garden truly livable. A garden bench provides
a place to enjoy the plants and garden stones allow access to the benches,
ponds garden sculptures and fountains without trampling any life. With
the addition of lights a garden can be enjoyed at any time of the day
or night. Simple lights that can be put anywhere are tiki torches which
use lamp oil, or citronella oil for fuel. Citronella has the added benefit
of repelling mosquitoes and other flying pests.
For fuel free light, solar garden lights can be installed. They require
no wires, and stick into the ground in much the same way as a tiki torch
but have photovoltaic panels and a small battery that charges during
the day and powers the lights by night.
Gardening is rewarding and fun. It can provide sustenance for the body,
as well as the mind with only a minimal amount of effort because, really,
the plants are doing all the work.
